Klamath Falls Municipal Court handles City code offenses and traffic citations issued by City police officers. Approximately 3,200 such cases are filed in the Municipal Court annually together with some 4,000 parking citations. Annual revenues exceed $370,000 annually and are divided among the State, the County Jail, police training, downtown parking lot acquisition and maintenance and the City's General Fund.
The Municipal Court Judge is appointed by the City Council pursuant to the City Charter. Initial appearances are scheduled for Thursday mornings at 8:00 in the Court Chambers at 500 Klamath Avenue. Spanish Court is held the first Wednesday of each month at 8:00 a.m.
Municipal Court handles parking, traffic and city ordinance citations issued by officers of the Klamath Falls Police Department. Most citations can be handled at the clerks' counter. The Clerk's office is open from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

General Information
Klamath Falls Municipal Court is the judicial branch of City government. The Municipal Court provides a local forum for the resolution of traffic infractions, parking citations and City ordinance violations issued within the city limits of Klamath Falls. Municipal Court Judge James Uerlings, appointed by the City Council pursuant to the City Charter, oversees the Court's operations. The majority of cases heard in Municipal Court are traffic infractions. Municipal Court does not handle criminal traffic offenses (such as driving under the influence of intoxicants), civil cases between private parties or small claims cases.

Court Arraignment
An arraignment is a first appearance in court with a plea being entered by the defendant. If you plead Guilty or No Contest you will see the Judge that day and if you plead Not Guilty a trial will be set for a future date.
Arraignments are held on Thursdays with check-in starting at 8:00 AM. All cases appearing before the Municipal Judge are called in the order of check-in (except for high school students, who will be called first to accommodate their early return to classes. No one will be added to the list of arraignments after court begins. Arraignments for persons whose primary language is Spanish are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 8:00 AM. Violations Bureau
Persons who want to see if they qualify for the Violations Bureau process either need to call or come to the Municipal Court Monday through Wednesday or on Friday to check on this and they will be instructed on how the citation can be handled. This must be done before the scheduled court appearance.
Trials
Trials are scheduled upon a plea of "Not Guilty," or as ordered by the court, and are normally scheduled within 4 to 6 weeks of entering your plea.
